My Journey
About 10 years ago, I was working full time as a dental nurse, getting bullied at work and desperately unhappy, but without a plan to do something about it. I remember always wearing cheap cluster lashes from the chemist at the time, and oddly enough, I often got compliments and asked where people could get their lashes done like mine.
With my birthday coming up, I asked my mum to buy me a spot at a 1 day lash course, which turned out to be pretty disappointing (if I managed to glue my model’s eyelids together, I can’t imagine I was being trained very well).
However, despite a dodgy first experience, I suddenly had a desire to learn everything I could about lashes, and how to do them like a pro. As I studied and practiced, I began doing friends and family lash work for free out of my bedroom, outside of my long hours nursing. Soon, I was building up a regular client list and had to soon quit my job, rent a small room to work from, and my new life had begun.
1 year later, I hired my first full time team member, and 3 years later I opened the doors to my first salon. As word spread and we got busier, my team grew, and Lash Laine has been my passion and my home until this day.
Today, as the salon grows and my incredible team gives our clients the best services possible, I’ve been able to turn my attention to training the next generation. Ever since that first less-than-impressive day course, I realised how this unregulated industry can unfortunately create a lot of poorly trained lash technicians, and a lot of unhappy clients, who deserve more for their hard earned money.
I started LL Artistry to give young lash techs the skills and training that I’m lucky to have, and combining our courses with my range of high-quality lash supplies, I’m so proud of what we’re producing, and excited for what’s to come.
